   1.  Assess the importance of marketing in the media area you have studied.

Marketing in the film industry is extremely important. This is because marketing can cause a movie to gain more notice by the audience and allowing for more profit to be made. Marketing can also create partnerships where both parties are profiting from the collaboration.

Marvel is a prime example of using marketing to promote their movie. Marvel used a special event for the release of Black Panther by creating a website for the movie, https://marvel.com/blackpanther#/. The website included movie tickets and an online shop that sold merchandise for the movie. They used this as a marketing tool to reel in more audience and to also make more profit by also including an online shop that sold their merchandise. Cross promotion wan another marketing tool used for the movie by a trailer of the movie being played during the NBA finals game. This was a smart marketing decision because there are a lot of viewers watching the NBA finals and when the audience sees the trailer during the finals it increases the range and quantity of the viewers who are going to watch the film. Another cross-promotion example is when Lexus partnered with the Black Panther movie, revealing a special commercial that showcased the movie and the 2018 Lexus LS 500, a new car that was inspired by the movie. This showcase allowed for both companies to earn a profit from the collaboration. These marketing techniques were some of the many that allowed for the movie to make about 361 million dollars in its first week alone.

Beauty and the Beast is another prime example of the significance that marketing poses to the filming industry. The movie used many cross-promotional techniques in order to obtain a large audience and gain a large profit. The movie collabed with many other companies in order to get the film portrayed everywhere. Twitter added exclusive stickers to add to photos, Apple created special iMessage stickers to send to people, etc. These different cross-promotional efforts allowed for the movie to be noticed by an enormous audience on both platforms and created a larger net of audience for the movie. The film used merchandising as another marketing technique. Disney added clothes, dolls, ornaments, etc. to their online store. This added to the total profit that the movie would make. Disney also teamed up with Hot Topic to release t-shirts, jewelry, mugs etc., allowing for both companies to make a profit off the collaboration. The film also used synergy as a marketing technique. Disney performed corporate synergy with the television show named ‘The Bachelor’. The show hosted a special edition episode on ABC to promote the upcoming release of the movie. This alone caused for the predicting profits to rise as the predicted audience rose as well. All the marketing techniques used caused the movie to make a worldwide sum of about 1.3 billion dollars.

Guardians of the Galaxy is another film that gained great success from using marketing techniques. They used synergy with their subsidiaries, marvel animation, and the Super Bowl. The Super bowl presented a commercial for the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 movie, their subsidiaries screened the movie on their app, and marvel animation created an animate television version in order to promote the movie. They used merchandising as another marketing technique to get the film out to the public. Theater exhibition and Home exhibition were also key components in the profit made from the movie. With people being able to enjoy the movie from the comfort of their own home, it caused for more people to watch the movie. These joint efforts caused for more profit to be made by the movie, which concluded in the movie making around 900 million dollars profit worldwide.

The film Fantastic Beast is another film that contained incredible marketing techniques that allowed for the film to achieve great success in the profit margin and to be viewed around the world. The movie did a cross promotion with AT&T by decorating their stores with posters and other movie merchandise and showing a preview of the movie on DirecTV. Google was another ally that did a collaboration with the movie by running multiple ads on their websites. Fan screenings were shown to entice viewers to want to see the movie early and Harry Potter themed games were used to reel in Harry Potter fans as well. The film had merchandise distributed among many different stores worldwide with Harry Potter merchandise. This meant that when Harry Potter fans bought a toy, they also bought a Fantastic Beast toy which allowed for both movies to gain profit. I seen their toys in the store personally and bought one for my little cousin. They also collabed with Hot Topic and Alex and Ani to make different merchandise in order to have the film’s name worldwide and to gain more profit from different ventures relating to the film’s promotion. AT&T and Warner Bros. committed synergy when they teamed up to create and promote the film worldwide, causing for the marketing campaign to boost the overall hype of the film. The home exhibition of the film was another marketing technique used in order to create a profit for the film. The film was sold through Amazon Blu-Ray, DVD and a Digital Combo Pack. They also have different businesses selling the movie such as Target and Walmart. The joint efforts of all the marketing techniques used caused for the movie to make a total of 653.7 million dollars worldwide.

Marketing techniques are critically essential to the film industry as it pertains to the success of the film and it is a key factor in the profit that the movie makes. Marketing is one of the key components in order to make sure that the movie is successful.

Practice Extract Essay

In the extract of the television show 24 the director is trying to convey a feeling of suspense within the viewer. The director is also trying to convey a crime thriller genre for the television show. The director wants to create the feelings of suspense for the crime that was committed inside the audience.

            In the first scene it opens to a woman sitting in an interrogation room chair waiting to be questioned. The setting of the interrogation room leaves viewers wondering why she is there and what she did. Not only does it leave readers wondering what she did, but it also leaves readers wondering what she is about to be questioned on and what is about to happen during the interrogation. This feeling of suspense is exactly what the author wants the viewers to feel. The crime aspect of the extract is also presented in the interrogation room. The eye-line match when the officer first walks in the room is another way the author conveys his message of suspense to the viewers. The officer looks at the camera and then the scene shows the camera after he looks at it. This conveys the author’s message of suspense by leaving viewers guessing who is watching the camera and why he looked at the camera. The suspense is in wondering whether he is going to disable the camera or is he going to try to help the prisoner escape somehow without the camera seeing it happen. These questions leave the audience on edge to see what is going to happen next. The score played throughout this scene intensifies the suspenseful feeling the audience has. It makes the extract seem more suspenseful by the music going lower and slower making it seem like something is about to happen. It symbolizes that something interesting in the extract is about to happen and it makes the viewer’s suspenseful feeling soar.

            The next scene is signaled with a shot/reverse shot of the scene moving from the interrogation room, to the officers watching the interrogation, and then back to the interrogation room. This shot shows suspense by the officer’s watching the interrogation faces. Their faces show that they are waiting on something to happen in the interrogation. These expressions incite a rise in suspense in the extract because it makes readers think about what they are waiting on and when is it going to happen. The close up of the officer after yelling at the prisoner shows his emotion of anger and frustration is at an all time high. This raises suspense because it makes the officer seem desperate, causing his next move to be unpredictable. This forces the audience to wonder what he is going to do to get the information that he needs and when will he do it, causing suspense to raise tremendously.

            The next scene is also signaled with a shot/reverse shot of the scene moving from the interrogation room, to the officers, watching the interrogation, and then back to the interrogation room. The dialogue between the officer and the prisoner is heated at this point in the extract making the suspense level rise on what is going to happen next between them. The prisoner begins to speak and tease the officer as he backs up into his chair. While the prisoner is still speaking the officer sits quietly staring at the prisoner. This leaves the audience suspenseful as to what is about to happen in the scene. The audience is suspenseful because they do not know what is about to happen between the two and how severe it is going to be. The score of this scene is another tool used to enhance the suspense in the extract. The music starts to grow louder and louder signaling something is about to happen. This also makes the suspense that the audience is feeling grow larger as well.

            The next scene is started with an action match of the officer tackling the prisoner and choking her. The dialogue of the officer also combines with the choking, asking the prisoner questions. The audience is in suspense to see if the prisoner is going to answer the questions or not. The split screen of the officer choking the prisoner and the other officers running to the interrogation room arises suspense. It does this by having the audience on edge to see if the prisoner is going to answer the questions before the other officers reach them and what is going to happen when the other officers do reach them. These different techniques used in the scene by the director rises the suspense level of the extract, therefore causing the suspense level in the audience to rise as well.

            The director’s theme of the extract is to portray the feeling of suspense from the extract to the audience. This causes for the use of different editing techniques and different camera angles, camera movements, sound, and mis-en-scene in order to convey it. These tools are used in every scene of the extract in order to create the feeling of suspense in the audience, maintain the suspense, and rise the suspense with every moment of the extract.

Final Task CCR Blog

This CCR will explain the journey that my group mates and I went through for this film. Not only will it detail the journey, but it will explain how we expected the movie to be distributed among the masses. It will also show how much I believe I have improved through out the entire year and it will also demonstrate how my editing skills have blossomed by the different edits that I have put in the CCR itself.

Final Task: Movie Opening

This is the final project that we did. For this project we picked our own genre and then came up with a pitch. After coming up with a pitch we came up with different places and ideas on how we are going to create the movie. We then created a script that we were going to follow, but during the movie we went off of the script a little bit. After deciding on everything that we were going to do we chose a couple days to film and got all of our shots filmed. We were right on schedule for us to be almost done with editing. We were going to finish editing the week before spring break ended, but the Corona Virus pandemic caused for us to have to schools cancelled. This caused for a major set back in our project because we had no way of accessing the footage that we already edited. This caused for us to have to use another editing software called Imovie. This was an easy task because we still had the footage that we filmed saved already on the USB and on our phones. Editing on Imovie was actually easier than using the first software, pinnacle studios. It was easier because they had a tutorial that all of us could watch on how to use everything. Also the previous experience of the tools that we used on the last project helped with finding the tools on the new software as well. We also learned how to get different type of fonts and titles from free websites to use for our project. All in all this project helped me grow even more in my experience of editing and filming movies, while also expanding my knowledge of different editing softwares and different titles as well.

Second Project: Music Video

For this project we had to make a music video from a song that we chose. The song that we chose had to be school appropriate and be something that we could make a video to. The music that we decided to use was called Skywalker. We chose this song because it was a song that everyone of us can actually have fun with and a flow of ideas started popping up in our heads. We decided the music video should be a group of friends hanging out and just having fun throughout the day. We did a mall scene, a car scene, and a beach scene. These scenes showed us going out together to the mall, buying clothes and changing for the beach. After leaving the mall it showed us turning up the song in the car having fun and jamming to it. It also showed us at the beach having phone, playing in the water, and talking to each other while listening to music on a towel. The editing process for this video improved from the last time. We had a clue to what we were doing this time because we had done this before. It went a lot smoother because we knew what needed to be done and we also knew how to do it. We did not have a tripod for this film, so we filmed everything by hand. We knew how to add the music since we did it for the last project, and we also knew how to cut scenes to how we wanted them to look. The editing and shooting process for this video was way easier because of the things that we learned from the last project.

First Project: Commercial

This video is the very first project that my group and I completed. It was a commercial project where we had to pick a product that we wanted to advertise. We picked Nestle Pure Life Water for this project. The process was kind of difficult because it was our very first project and we still had to get the hang of things. It was different from learning the tools needed and then actually putting them in play. It took us a while to actually get this video edited because of it being our first time editing. It was a new software that we never used before and it was something that we did not usually do. We had never edited anything before with an editing software and we had never tried to edit anything to the extent where we had to edit this one. We had to find music and we also had to input some good transitions. Not only did we do those things, but we also had to cut some of the videos on the editing software and also close gaps. We had to make sure some of the videos were faced the right way and we even learned how to speed things up and slow them down. Editing was not the only thing we learned. We learned how to shoot certain camera angles that we decided to use. We did this with our different heights and with the equipment we had. We learned how to use a cam recorder and a tripod because these were things they we never used before. In this project it was only three of us in a group: Shania, Kaliyah, and I. Kerin was in another group for this project.

Re- Editing Blog: IMovie is working !!

Since school is still closed we had to start using IMovie. School board officials are saying that school will remain closed until April 15th, but the project is due on April 9th. The school is handing out computers on Friday. We were going to get computers from there, but decided against it. We decided against it because it was a slim chance that we would be able to get the computer that we edited on. This made us decide to just work on our phones and use IMovie instead. We did a group face time call to plan out everyone’s part. It would be less stressful and easier to do so. My group members and I did a group face time call to determine our plan of action for IMovie. We believed that we could share our work and work on IMovie at the same time, but the editing software did not allow us to do that.

Since the editing software did not allow us to share the footage we had to find a way around it. We determined that we just break the editing into parts for different members to edit. The first part of the movie is going to one of my other group members. She will edit the first couple scenes and add the music that we chose. She will then export the edited video and send it to the group chat that we have. The next group member will import it to their editing software and then edit their parts. They will export it and send it to us and then me and my other group member will do the last part. We will take the edited video and add the part that we have. We will then put it together and edit it. After that is finished we will send that to the group chat for everyone to review. When the review is done we will take the final footage and turn it in to be submitted to cambridge. 

Editing Blog: Going to use IMovie !

We had no choice but to re-edit our footage. The Corona Virus put our film at a set back. Since the virus entered Broward County, the school board closed school. We intended to go to school on Monday and continue to edit the film. We finished editing most of the film and intended to just add transitions onto the edited footage. We were then going to add the downloaded music and then finally export it to our USB. We were then going to upload it onto our blog for our teacher to see it and send it off. The hassle of the schools closing put my group in a panic at first. After we calmed down and talked as a group we came up with an idea. Since all of our footage was saved on the USB we would just have to start over and edit again.

Some of us had some of the edited footage on our phones, this allowed for at least some of the editing to not have to be done. The new editing software that we used was called IMovie. We used this one because we can all edit and share our editing with each other much easier. The editing was easier because we could all edit on our phones and iPads. This caused for us not to have to worry about the software not working. It also made it more convenient for us to edit at any time of the day because it was on our phones. We added all of our footage to a google drive so that everyone can make sure to have all of the footage. We then went through the footage to make sure that it was all the correct footage. We then started to import our footage into IMovie to start the editing process again. With this done we started making a plan on when and how we were going to finish editing and adding the rest of the film. 

Editing Blog: Titles and more !

Today in class we had another chance to start editing. We continued to edit our film and also made a plan. This plan was our plan of action on how we want to finish the film in an orderly fashion. We decided that if we did not finish today that we are going to have two of our group mates come during study hall to add transitions. Today we edited our film some more by adding new scenes. When we went over the film we seen that there were still some scenes missing. It turned out that when I sent the footage that I took from my phone it did not send properly. I originally used iCloud and the videos were sent using mail drop. The mail drop would not let my group member download the videos to the computer to insert them. This caused me to have to send the missing footage using Gmail in order for my group mate to get the footage and insert it into the editing software.

We also found music for the film as well. We found some suspenseful music that did not sound too scary and that did not sound too light. We looked for music that did not sound too scary because the film is not a scary film and we did not want to make it feel like that. We did not want it to be too light because we wanted the music to have the audience in a suspenseful mood. At first we did not know if the music was copyrighted. We figured it out by clicking on the publishers policy at the bottom and then reading it. It stated that if we were using the music for  paid advertisement then we would have to make sure to put where the music was from. It also stated that if we were using it for educational purposes or a school project then it would be fine for us to use. We had some trouble at first downloading the music through the youtube mp3 converter, a site used for downloading music from youtube. We got help from our peers showing us how to make sure that it is downloaded. After it downloaded we saved the music to the computer and added it to our movie file. We then decided that when the group mates go tomorrow during there study hall they will insert the music and then all of us will go over it on Monday. 

Editing Blog: We finally got to edit !

We were finally able to start editing about two class periods ago. We started by transferring the different files to different computers. This was because we had to switch computers about nine different times. We did this because the editing software was not working on any of the computers. This caused us to not only have to switch computers, but we had to postpone editing until the next class period. That class period we found a computer that had working software and then transferred the footage to a USB. After doing that we had to add the films on to the desktop with the software working. Once this was done we started putting the footage together. We cut some of the videos short and cut some of the footage out completely. We then kept letting others review the footage that we put together to make sure that it looked good.

After doing that we decided what footage needed to be re-shot. We did this so that we could be prepared for when we are allowed to reshoot our footage. Once we were done figuring out the footage that needed to be reshot, we had to find the title design font that we chose. We went into the title folder in the editing software and clicked on fonts. We then scrolled down until we seen the font Dior Wolfe. We clicked on the font and wrote our titles on a black screen. After doing these things we inserted out titles into our film. We did this by adding one title into the title track of our film and the other title into the footage track. We added it to the footage track in order to make it an actual scene in the movie. We put the title in red on a black screen.

Peer Review Blog: Why we could not do the Peer Review

In class we were supposed to do peer reviews of another person’s movie. A peer review is when we watch another group’s movie and then give our feedback. This feedback is then taken into consideration by the group. After they get the feedback it is up to them if they want to edit or change anything because of what we said. Unfortunately we could not take part in this process. The reason we could not do this was because the person we were supposed to peer review did not show up. We had two days to peer review the people we were assigned. When the person did not show up the first day we used the time to keep editing our film. We found a working computer and then used the rest of the class period to make some more changes. We cut some scenes shorter and started putting them together.

After we did that, we added some more scenes from the movie folder that we created and kept editing them to get the movie just right. It was then time for the class period to end, so we saved our work and put the computer back. The next time we had class we waited for the person that we were peer reviewing to show up. Once it was obvious the person was not going to show up we continued to edit again. We were taught how to get different titles online and insert them in the editing software that we use. After finding the titles and inserting them into the software, we inserted the titles into the film that we were editing. We then sent some scenes to the computer. These were scenes that we forgot to send the class before. In order to continue editing the film we had to insert the scenes that we sent to fill in the gaps. When we finished adding and editing the scenes we recorded the piece of the edited movie we had from our phones. We did this because the person peer reviewing us did not come to school that day, so we sent the recording to them for them to peer review us. 

Filming at Lester’s

After we finished filming at our group members house we went to start filming at Lester’s diner. At Lester’s diner I got out of the car and filmed both the car of my group mates, who portrayed the friends, and the “stalker’s” car. I filmed this one to show the stalker is still following the girls this far into the film. After this I did a tracking shot of the girls walking into the diner. I had to film this shot multiple times because my hands were either too shaky or I wasn’t able to get the girls whole body in the shot. I also almost fell on of the times causing us to have the re-shoot the shot about three times. After I recorded them going into the diner I recorded them walking to their booth and sitting down. This was to establish them actually going to sit down to eat and talk to each other. I then recorded their stalker walking past the window where they were seated with a black hoodie on. This was to show that the stalker is looking at the layout of the diner in order to find the booth that is closest to them, but far away enough for them not to see him.

I recorded the stalker going into the diner after them as well. This emphasizes the stalker following them and wanting to take one of them. It creates a path way for the ending scene and creates suspense as to when the kidnapping will take place. After filming the stalker going into the diner behind them, I filmed the friends ordering food and talking. This was to create a more surreal scene of them actually hanging out and not just acting. I then proceeded to go in the booth behind the stalker in order to create a point of view shot. This was to show the stalker watching them talk and eat from his booth. I then filmed the girls getting their food, and leaving. I filmed the stalker leaving out after them to show him following them. It also built suspense that he was following them out of the diner. It will make the audience wonder what he is about to do now that he has followed them after the diner. 

Filming Blog: Made it to the house

We filmed at one of the group members houses when we went to film. We filmed them walking out of the house as it was a part of the scenes that we were doing. While we did that we had to film the stalker’s car behind them. While they sat in the car and waited for their friend to come out of the house I filmed the stalkers car behind them. This makes it seem as though the stalker was continuously following them. This also shows that they are being watched. It makes the friends seem like they do not know that the stalker is following them and they have no clue what is going on. While we waited on the group member to come outside I gave my group members in the car my phone to film themselves waiting. They also filmed themselves calling her and telling her that they are outside for her to come. While they did that I positioned myself on the side of the house to film the group member walking outside the house.

We had to film that part about three times. This was because we wanted to make sure that the scene was of good quality. The first time we filmed it the group member was unaware that we were filming. This caused them to not act according to script, forcing us to start over again. The second time we filmed it the member almost fell. This forced us to start over and record it a third time. This time the group member got everything right and we finally got to end that scene. After that I had to film the stalker’s car behind them again because they were originally too close to each other to make it seem like they did not notice the car behind them. I re-shot this to make the film feel more realistic in order to make the film have as much quality as possible. After this I filmed the girls talking in the car at the complex before pulling off.

Filming Blog: Jamming in the car

Over the weekend we finally started our filming. It was a three day weekend so it made it a perfect time to film. We started the filming process in the car. Kaliyah, a member in my group who has a car, came and picked everyone up from their homes. While in the car I filmed them dancing and singing along to the music. While I filmed them with the cam recorder, they filmed themselves using my phone. They placed the phone on the dash board and recorded themselves singing along to the song. While in the car I also filmed the “stalker” following them. I placed the cam recorder up to the rear view mirror and recorded it. That way it showed the stalker following them through the rear view mirror to make it seem as though they did not know he was behind them.
We also filmed multiple shots in the car in order to make sure that we had the right one. I filmed everyone getting into the car and made sure that the filming was to everyone’s liking. Not only did I film them getting into the car, but I gave them my phone to make it seem like they were recording themselves. This is because when friends are normally together they usually record themselves together. By recording themselves together it gave the film a more real effect. I also recorded them dancing and one of them recording themselves. This kept adding to that real effect of the film. Not only did I record them, but in order to make the shots good I had to duck in the seat. This is because I am not in any of the scenes, I just film the shots. With the job of filming the shots I had to make sure that I wasn’t seen in the car with them or in any of the shots, which caused my to duck behind the seat in order to hide myself, but also record as well.

Planning Blog: Storyboard

Below are images of our story board. The story board contains the images of the scenes that we are going to do and shows what will be going on in the scene. This will help us tremendously. It will help us because it will be an easy tool to use when doing the film. We only will have to follow the story board directly as it is, which will help with the filming process. It will help in the filming process because we can just look at the story board to know what scenes that we are doing and to see if we forgot anything. This makes the story board a significant tool that aids us in making the film perfect. Also this makes us have more fun with the film because we know what we are filming and we would not stress on what we should do for the film. This helps us be able to make our film the exact way that we planned it. The story board is the most significant part of our planning process and it will help us make our film more perfect.

Planning Blog: Title Design

This power-point will help us remember the design more easily. We put the design in a power-point format in order to obtain the information better and to make it organized. The reason we did this is so that we can keep looking back at the text in order to either remember how we are styling our title or to make sure that we styled it in the correct way. In order for that to be the case we put all the information on how we are doing the titles and the different aspects of the title as well.

Planning Blog 3: Location, Health, Schedule, and Participants

This week, we decided to organize our location, participants, health and schedule. We created this by using google slides. Planning ahead is very beneficial to our group. We can always refer back to the google slides if we ever forget about the original plan we had before. Come filming day, we hope that things can run smoothly. For starters, we decided to set our location. It was easy for us to decide on how to start a film. We each came up with great ideas to start the beginning of the film in the garage. We also, researched diners to film at for the film. As the planning continues, we cannot wait to start our project.

Planning Blog: Sound And Dialogue Script

This week, we created our dialogue/sound script for our film. We used google slides in order to create the script. In the script, you will see that each slide is title with the scene number. The information on each slide describes what is being said during the scene and the sounds that are going on. For example, we included the dialogue between the actors in the scene along with the background noises. We created the script carefully so that it can be accurate for when it's time for us to film. Creating the script will be beneficial on filming day! We will already have the plan on what the actors need to say and what sounds are going to be made. Now that we have a plan on the audio being used for the film, it makes us more excited to start the project! Hopefully, we can film less than two weeks from now.

Planning Blog: Shooting Script

For the script we created a power-point that entails all of the scenes without the words. It shows what is going to happen in every scene and also the camera movements and angles. This power-point will be almost exactly what we are doing for the actual film. We plan to follow the script we created 100%, but we have also planned for any deterrent that may interfere for what we planned. The power-point of the script also shows the editing techniques that we plan to use for the actual film. This script is the tool that we need to help make our film a success. It will help us make our story board and also help us come up with ideas for the dialogue that will be in the scenes. Not only will it help us with the dialogue, but it will help us further illustrate our scenes on paper for the story board that we are going to do. With this power-point at our disposal, it will make planning and filming the rest of this film uncomplicated and less stressful to do. With this being the case I believe that it will make the film making process more fun and exciting instead of just something that we have to do.

Title Research: Underwater

They're 25 titles in the opening scene of underwater . At the beginning the titles start descending down the screen which correlates with the title under water . Those titles are just the companies that collaborated to create underwater and the title underwater. After the titles just start to appear on the screen in a smaller font ranging from executive producers to star actors . Images that are prioritized in the opening scene is the subtitles and words in a newspaper . An example would be "worlds deepest drill under construction" . This obviously makes the audience assume that a main plot of the movie will be the drilling being that it was one of the boldest worlds during the opening scene . Another image prioritized is the large map of the ocean . This tells the audience that the main setting will be the pacific ocean or the Marina trench because the camera begins to zoom into as the opening scene continues. 
The connotations that the images carry are a feeling of seriousness and suspense as well. It brings these feelings out by the images themselves. The images are different documents and facts that tell certain things that are important to the film. These images show some of the facts, but leave the audience wondering what importance the images have in the film. Not only does it have the audience guessing, but it brings out a level of seriousness cause of the different official documents that are shown. This brings out the importance in the film by the audience knowing that official documents such as those shows something significant happening. The genre is reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset by the director using different the titles as a way to represent the film. The titles are presented in a going down manner to represent that the film is going to be taken place underwater. This hints to the audience that the film will be taken place underwater. The title of the film also gives some hint to this as well. The director also hints to some of the details to the film in the documents shown by including statements like “under water drilling project”. This reinforces the mysteriousness of the film because it leaves the audience wanting more. 
The film establishes enigma from the outset by leaving the audience wanting more. It does this by having the documents have words on them that hints to the details of the film, but they move very quickly. This makes the audience want to know what the document says and leaves them wondering what hints does the documents give them. The strategies that are used to ensure the film appeals it’s targeted audience is the editing techniques that they use and the sound as well. The sound and the editing techniques make it seem like something is about to come out of the screen. These types of effects attract people who like to adventure and people that are curious. The images of the documents talking about drilling underwater also attracts marine life enthusiasts and people interested in the environmental factors of the drill. Technology was used effectively by the editing techniques and the transitions. The transitions were very fast portraying a sense of urgency for the film. This helped let the audience know that this was important as well. Not only were they fast, but the transitions were going downwards to connect with the title underwater, which enhances the suspense for the movie. Also, since some of the documents shown were newspapers it gives off the sense that the incident was so important that it was in the news. This is an important technique using technology because the audience knows that things in the news are major events that the world needs to know about, this means that if this was in the news then it was a very important event. Not only was it in one news paper, but the sequence shows that it was in many newspapers across the world. This makes the audience even more eager for what actually happened and in the process shrouds the incident that took place in more mystery. 

All of these things that I have said combined reinforces and enhances the mystery aspect of the film efficiently.
